These two GW Panthers are not very historical, having only being based on vague proposals and concept drawings, but considering that we've got cartoon tanks in game, it's not a terribly important issue.
The Geschützwagen Panther, which was previously a tier 7 artillery, has now been split into two tanks in tier 7 and 8, with a 8,8 cm Flak 41 gun (the Panzer Selbstfahrlafette IVc's top gun) and a 12,8 cm Kanone 44 L/55 (found on the Rheinmentall Borsig) respectively, based on the real life Grille project which was aimed at creating a weapon carrier (Waffenträger) based on a lightly armoured Panther chassis. Two new tanks have been added, which are the Sturm-Infanteriegeschütz 33B and the Sturmpanzer 43 (Brummbär).
The first one because nobody likes it, the last two because they're fakes. Three tanks, the Geschützpanzer Mark VI, Geschützwagen Tiger (P), and Geschützwagen E 100, have been removed from the tech tree. I spent a few hours fiddling around with the German tech tree in Photoshop, and here is my proposal for that nation. This class can be used to fill the gap between tank destroyers and heavy tanks, and consist of those TDs like the AT-series, Jagdpanzer-series, and T95-series which don't really fit in properly with the rest of the TDs. Obvious examples are the Jagdpanzer E 100 and Tortoise. These are just like tank destroyers, except with heavier armour and weaker guns. So in the event artillery does get removed, why not convert most of them into tank destroyers instead of deleting them?Īdditonally, a new tank class known as Assault Guns (AG, represented by the square symbol) could be created. Surely you can preserve a few of the artilleries, and maybe convert them into tank destroyers, right? The Bishop and Sturmpanzer II come to mind right away. Wargaming said that they might remove artillery if the stun mechanic changes are highly unpopular and/or do not work out, but this made me think: why scrap an entire class?
